Nude Art
This collection of 50 paintings showcases Ffyffe’s mystery of the human form through a blend of esoteric and an erotic sensibilities. Nudes are frequently present in Terry’s work. They feature in many of his allegorical paintings as well as often being the muse for his self-reflective pieces when portraying himself as the fool.
Many of his blue and brown nude studies portray the model at her toilette, in the shower or at her vanity, standing or sitting or lying unselfconsciously. The blue nudes series suggest early morning, with the subject herself being as much a creation of beauty as the artist’s capturing of her pose. One of his regular models/muse was Esther Thomas with whom he had a relationship with after the annulment of his marriage in 2008.
Many of these works were shown in Fyffe’s solo exhibition Studio Secrets (Lamont Gallery, London, 1998) as well as in the Erotica Exhibition (The Erotica Gallery, London,1997). Nudes were also part of the solo exhibition The Artist as a Fool…and his Muse, (Lamont Gallery, London, 2004).
