Cosmic Art
Ffyffe’s inspired Cosmic Art series (2014-2016) emerged while he was painting the resurrection at the end of the Passion of Christ series. There are 54 paintings displayed on this website.
This series is Terry’s internalised understanding of the Resurrection…not a single moment of triumph of life after death…but the imminent unfolding on a continuous basis of the wonder and beauty of the created world and the creative process.
Each painting is a celebratory kaleidoscope of colour, pattern and beauty and a humbling insight into Terry’s grasp of the profound manifestation of God or the creative force enlivening the macro and micro of every aspect of existence.
In this YouTube clip below Terry is interviewed talking about his painting in general and this series in particular. It’s 4 minutes well worth spending.
These pieces are universally accessible and inspiring. As Terry says in the interview. “It does not depend upon you having an art education…. or being brought up in the western tradition” for these pieces to be enjoyed and appreciated.
These pieces investigate both the origins of the universe and the nature of light and the ever-expanding energy exploding throughout the cosmos, in paintings such as Migration of the Spheres and the mandala like Radiance of Being. It also explores through the tiled pieces the nature of consciousness and memory through pieces such as Blank Tiles 2 and 60 Small Paintings.
These works were exhibited at Transformations, (St Stephen Walbrook, London 2017) and in a major solo exhibition Painting the Light, (5th Base Gallery, London, 2016).
